Speech Language Pathologist (Multiple Positions Available)

Must hold a Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) or is licensed by Teacher Standards and Practice Commission (TSPC) prior to July 1, 2016.

Salary: $44,982.05 - $87,791.01

JOB SUMMARY:
This position provides specialized services for elementary, middle, high or alternative education students that requires a specialized license from the State of Oregon. This position promotes healthy school climates that are conducive to learning and require high levels of multi-layered collaboration. Input on IEPs and 504s is frequently required as well as providing staff training.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A valid State of Oregon License appropriate for the position (example: mental health, SLP, Psychologist, etc.).
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (Master’s required for most State of Oregon licenses).
- The ability to follow oral and written directions.
- The ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents and school personnel from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills in at least one language, two languages preferred but not required.
- Proficient in the use of computer and internet based applications, including but not limited to email and Google applications.
- Ability to learn new systems as they are brought online by the District.
- Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff and district patrons.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment.
- Annually pass the District’s required online training, CPR/First Aid, and other training provided by the District.
- Maintain current licenses and certifications required for the position.
- Follow and maintain knowledge of all applicable District policies and procedures; follow and maintain knowledge of all current state and federal laws or administrative rules pertaining to public education.
- Build relationships.
- Develop and maintain an environment conducive to effective learning; promotes high levels of achievement in relation to individual student abilities.
- Plans a program of intervention that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students; assists in the selection of curriculum, equipment and other instructional materials.
- Organize instruction using learning objectives and clearly defined student outcomes.
- Selects strategies that emphasize student involvement and engagement.
- Develop clear behavioral expectations.
- Prepares feedback for report cards and progress reports; conferences with students, parents/guardians and other staff members; maintains open lines of communication.
- Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, curriculum and instructional methods (example: PLC, Site Council).
- Takes all responsible precautions to provide for the health and safety of students and to protect equipment, materials and facilities.
- Participates in District provided professional development.
- Attends work regularly and is punctual.
- Attends staff meetings and substitutes for others as needed.
- Speech Language Pathologist: Screen, evaluate and identify eligible students for speech and language services; design and implement appropriate intervention strategies; collect student performance data and establish and maintain a daily schedule. Provide information relative to communication disorders to students, parents, teachers and community partners (when appropriate).

- Provide information relative to communication disorders to students, parents, teachers and others as appropriate.
- Collaborate with teachers and parents regarding program content and intervention services.
- Collect student performance data and establish and maintain a daily schedule.
- Monitor effectiveness of intervention.
- Implement requirements of Federal and State regulations.
- Maintain records and reports required by District, State and Federal agencies.
- Cooperate with various agencies in referring and providing appropriate reciprocal services.
- Analyze and forecast the need for services.
- Provide services directly or through consultation as listed in the student’s IEP.
- Write IEP goals and objectives as necessary for the student on an IEP who requires services from an SLP.
- Collect student performance data for determining the extent to which student IEP goals and objectives are achieved.
- Perform duties and expectations of a Case Manager.
- Partner and collaborate with teachers and specialists to ensure IEP is implemented.
- Provide instruction and direction to assigned educational assistants ensuring delivery of instructional services.
- Submit IEP paperwork in a timely manner.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May supervise and direct the work of educational assistants and/or teacher aides. All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.
