Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Follows and maintains knowledge of all applicable District policy(ies) and procedures.
  2. Troubleshoots all instructional materials (e.g. chromebooks, laptops, or other electronic) equipment.
  3. Knows and uses Dewey Decimal System.
  4. Opens and closes library daily securing library equipment and valuables.
  5. Catalogs books and new equipment.
  6. Repairs, covers and binds damaged books.
  7. Assists students with reference work, selection of books, online reference searches.
  8. Assists with Accelerated Reader program and testing if used at the school.
  9. Supervises students during library visits.
  10. Prepares materials as requested by teaching staff for instruction.
  11. Processes check-ins and check-outs of books, periodicals, and reference materials and instructional materials (e.g. chromebooks, laptops, or other electronic) equipment.
  12. to staff and students before, during and after school. 
  13. Processes new textbooks.
  14. Supervises and trains assistants and volunteers in helping students find resources.
  15. Coordinates set-up of special events in the library.
  16. Assists students and staff in operation of library facilities, materials and equipment.
  17. Works with students in groups or individually assisting in the development of media skills.
  18. Maintains circulation records for library books, reference materials, periodicals and textbook depository.
  19. Reads to students.
  20. Inventories, orders and stocks library supplies, books and magazines.
  21. Assists with collection of fees and billing.
  22. Maintains current records, tracks overdue and lost books and technology, creates accounts for patrons and manages student library accounts.
  23. Performs general office duties including answering phones, directing calls and taking messages as appropriate, greeting the public, typing, copying, filing, sorting materials, and general correspondence.
  24. Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
  25. Communicates clearly with coworkers and other staff.
  26. Dress professionally for the position.
  27. Attends work daily as assigned and is punctual.
  28. Adheres to daily schedule.
